You’ve been cordially invited to Norah and Jack’s wedding. It’s kinda strange since you haven’t heard from Norah in years. She was a colleague at your last company, and you’re surprised you were even invited. In your last encounter with her, she left a meeting abruptly with no explanation, and you haven’t seen her since. Without giving away any spoilers, mid-way through the experience, you discover that not everything is what it seems…
NP: What was the inspiration for your experience?
TSK: This game was acquired from Canadian Capers, a voluntary group of escape game enthusiasts based in Toronto, Canada who designed and mounted this game in 2016 for a short weekend run. The Secret City team loved the idea and experience and wanted to bring it back to life and elevate it with food and drink in a premium wedding venue. We’ve been chasing the idea of immersive dining for a while, to try and integrate food and drink as part of a story and overall experience.

NP: What do you think fans of immersive will find most interesting about this latest experience?
TSK: Fans will love the game mechanic, puzzles and the depth and variety of character interactions. Most people are familiar with what it’s like to be part of a wedding reception, so it will feel natural to be a guest. The awkward small talk with acquaintances at your table will be all too familiar, but this time it will be done in the backdrop of an intriguing story, challenging puzzles and an engrossing mystery to solve.
NP: Once you started designing and testing what did you discover about this experience that was unexpected?
TSK: During our Beta tests we were surprised how quickly players got into the character of ‘wedding guest’. Almost immediately players became invested in having a past relationship with the bride, groom and the rest of the wedding party (even though they obviously don’t) — saying things like, “Congratulations Norah! So great to see you!”, playing make believe along with the characters.
NP: What can fans who are coming to this, or thinking about coming to this, do to get into the mood of the experience?
TSK: Dress to impress! Come up with your dream wedding playlist; or listen to your playlist if you’ve had one Rewatch videos /photos of your wedding (if you had one); or videos/ photos of your favorite wedding you attended. Be ready to mingle and make new friends. Bring an appetite!
