How To Get Covered By NoPro
How to get listed, request review coverage, or pitch a feature (Updated Oct. 2023)

Since 2014, No Proscenium has sought to cover the best in the immersive and experiential arts & culture. Our publication staff is made up largely of volunteers who produce reviews and features driven by their passion for the medium.
We cover the following categories of Immersive & Experiential projects:
- Alternate Reality Games/Experiences
- Dining & Nightlife
- Escape Rooms/Games
- Experiential Museums
- Installation Art & Performances
- Interactive Livestreams
- Interactive Stories & Games
- Live Action Role Playing Games (LARP)
- Magic
- Physical Games & Experiences
- Podplays
- Telephone-based Experiences
- Theatre (In-Person)
- Themed Entertainment
- Virtual Reality Performances & Games
- Virtual Worlds
Note that while categories like “Theatre” and “Magic” cross over with traditional performances in those mediums, we only cover work on those fields that incorporate immersive/experiential techniques which include:
- Audience agency (physical, narrative, emotional, etc/)
- Promenade
- Site-adaptive/responsive/specific staging
- Themed physical design
- User centered design
If a performance would be right at home on a traditional proscenium stage or in a black box theatre, it isn’t really in our wheelhouse and the request for coverage will be declined. (For the Magic category: the narrative/theme content and context of the event is paramount.)

See below for specific instructions regarding listings in our Newsletter, Reviews, and our editorial policies around Features, as well as how the curation process at our sister site Everything Immersive and our social media channels works.
HOW TO GET LISTED IN OUR NEWSLETTER
NoPro has a weekly newsletter that ships on most Saturdays.
To be considered for listing, your work must be submitted to our sibling site Everything Immersive (www.everythingimmersive.com). Accounts at EI are free (EI does not sell tickets) and the database is updated a minimum of twice a week. Listings submitted by end of day Wednesday Pacific Time will be eligible for consideration in that weekend’s Newsletter.
Note that some listings will also be curated into NoPro’s section at EI, and onto our social media channels. This is via an internal process, and requests for featuring will not be acknowledged. (Indeed, such requests will slow down any potential featuring.)
Sign up for an account at Everything Immersive and follow the prompts. The site features a built-in embargo date function, which allows you to place a listing ahead of public announcements. Listings placed this way are held under embargo and not discussed publicly.
HOW TO GET REVIEWED BY NOPRO
NoPro reviews both in-person & remote works.
We have Review Crew members in the following regions at present: London, New England, NYC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Toronto, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Southern California, and Tokyo along with a few at-large correspondents and the occasional special correspondent. If your in-person event is in one of these regions odds are decent that we can send someone. Note that all our team members are volunteers.
In addition we are able to review remote experiences whose mediums include internet video, telephone, delivered boxes, smartphone, PCVR and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
NoPro currently has three outlets for our reviews.
- Our weekly Review Rundown, which features capsule reviews.
- Longform Feature Reviews written at the discretion of our volunteer staff.
- Occasional appearances by our Review Crew on the No Proscenium podcast,
To have your work be considered for review email us at pitches@noproscenium.com with the phrase REVIEW OPPORTUNITY in the subject line along with the name of the work. We encourage you to reach out at least two weeks ahead of the available press dates, as the team is often booked well in advance.
When reaching out for review coverage please provide the following as soon as they are available, preferably with the initial request: a press release/summary of the work, promotional images without text overlays (horizontal orientation strongly preferred), a cast and designer list for reference.
Works accepted for review are guaranteed a capsule review in the Review Rundown. Feature-length reviews, are at the discretion of the individual writers in consultation with the editorial staff.
All communication regarding reviews aside from attendance logistics — including follow ups, spelling and fact correction — should be directed at our editorial staff and not at individual writers.
Note that we do not covered staged readings nor will we send reviewers to write up in-development versions of work as reviews.
HOW TO PITCH A FEATURE
We are always interested in hearing about potential interview subjects for our Q&A series THE IMMERSIVE 5, and are also open to feature pitches by writers who are interested in volunteering their time to cover a topic they are passionate about.
At present as we do not have the freelance budget for assigning features, we do not follow up on requests for feature length coverage from potential subjects.
For all inquires and submissions email us at pitches@noproscenium.com.
ABOUT THE COMING SOON FEATURE
In October of 2023 NoPro debuted a COMING SOON featurette that uses a Q&A format to spotlight an upcoming experience or event. Subjects for the COMING SOON feature are selected from the press releases we receive and submissions to EVERYTHING IMMERSIVE as outlined above. Selection is via an internal process, and specific requests for being featured in COMING SOON will not be acknowledged.
Workshop: Publicity 101 for Immersive Creators
Next Event: DEC 2023
From time to time we offer a “101” online class on PR & Publicity for immersive creators. This is a very, very basic course aimed at early in their career DIY makers.
We appreciate your interest in having us cover your experience, game, or virtual world, due to the volume of requests that we receive it can take 48–72 hours for a response from us.
Note: reaching out to us via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn are fine, but we will redirect you to email each time. Save a step and start there. If it’s not in email, it won’t be followed up on.
