COMING SOON: ITCHY-O’s Söm-Sãptälahn
The latest experience from Denver’s sonic mysticks is just the start of something new from the collective

Denver-based ITCHY-O, the “primal-futurist percussive performance ensemble,“ are known for making shows that transcend what could be called a “concert” and hit a level that could best be called a “ritual.” The latest event, Söm-Sãptälahn, takes its name from a “a custom-built gong and metallophone percussion set based on a custom seven-tone scale” that will be the centerpiece of the event.
We checked in with Benjamin Beardsley, Itchy-O Comms Agent (and full disclosure: NoPro correspondent) about the event at Boulder’s Fiske Planetarium which debuts on Feb 17th.
The two shows are already sold out, but response has convinced the ensemble that they should tackle a remount soon. To keep from missing the next edition, sign up for ITCHY-0’s newsletter to get info right as tickets drop.

NO PROSCENIUM: Tell us a little bit about your experience! What’s it about? What makes it immersive?
ITCHY-O: We take full advantage of the Fiske Planetarium’s unique audio-visual capabilities to create a new and very unique experience. This event represents the debut of our newest album, Söm-Sãptälahn. Söm-Sãptälahn was born of a collaboration with the prestigious School of Mines, where we cast several custom instruments in our custom septa-tonic tonal scale.
Presented in partnership with the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder Fiske Planetarium, this event incorporates live performance, guided meditation, entrainment frequencies, and a light show that will plunge the participant into a sublime sea of sight and sound.
Participants should come prepared to be transported to the outermost limits of space and Mind.

ITCHY-O: We are known as primal-futurist avant-ritualists. Our dedicated fans expect a numinous, almost shamanic experience from our shows, and we are always striving to find new and exciting ways to connect our audience with the transcendent.
We have always experienced planetariums as a window onto extraordinary realms. Our symbolism and spectacle in synergy with the extraordinary capabilities of the planetarium promise an unparalleled encounter with the celestial.
NP: What do you think fans of immersive will find most interesting about this latest experience?
ITCHY-O: Everything people love about an immersive experience–the pure escapism of being transported beyond the mundane realms of daily existence, total emotional engagement, the opportunity to participate in the experience instead of just observing, and the full spectrum of multisensory stimulation.
The show is an invitation to a journey that will open your senses, deepen your connection, and return you transformed.

NP: Once you started designing and testing what did you discover about this experience that was unexpected?
ITCHY-O: This was our first collaboration with a planetarium. We’ve been blown away by the partners who have joined us in creating this one-of-a-kind adventure.
The Light Clinic, for example, has provided mind-melting visuals that precisely marry our trance-inducing rhythms and frequencies.
NP: What can fans who are coming to this, or thinking about coming to this, do to get into the mood of the experience?
ITCHY-O: Members of our Patreon community get regular access to exercises, mythology, lore, and more. As for what to prepare, we encourage guests to bring an open mind and prepare to have it blown like the stardust of a supernova.
