Transform the world around you at this interactive technology showcase. Create a living painting, play a rock concert using only household objects, and fly through a surreal dreamscape. Today’s leading digital artists use virtual reality, augmented reality, projection mapping, and other innovative tools to create multisensory installations that are only fully realized through your participation. The future is in your hands — for a limited run only.

A regular ticket (ages 9 and up) for Teknopolis offers timed-entry sessions with access to all interactive installations on the main and lower levels of the BAM Fisher and immersive VR and 360-degree film experiences on the upper levels of the BAM Fisher.

A child ticket (ages 6–8) for Teknopolis includes all of the above with the exception of the VR experiences on the fourth floor.

Highlights include:

Figuration, a mesmerizing large-scale interactive video projector that illuminates the human body through light and sound

SMing, an interactive choir installation offering users the chance to be both conductor and an entire choir simultaneously as they are immersed in their own vibration, movements, and harmony.

Fascinating Style Transfer Mirrors allow visitors to see their own image reflected in the style of classical artwork. The system has learned the styles of three famous artists and paints what it sees in real-time.

Virtual Growth where light grows to trace the environment, illuminating hidden edges and organically interacting with people and objects

Players stand, jump, or dance on the pressure zones and a ray of light is shot towards the opponent’s side when playing Light Pong. Movements and events are synchronized with sounds and the game becomes a melodic composition.

Site-specific interactive sound installation Singing Tunnel allows visitors to create a jam session using architecture and song. The visitor’s own voice, sound modules and the acoustics of the tunnel interact to make magical music.

Content Advisories: Varies. Virtual reality may make some individuals motion sick.

Ages 6 to 8 for Teknopolis (no VR) and ages 9 and up for Teknopolis (includes VR). We also require adult supervision for any children under 12 and recommend one adult per young child (under age 8).

No children under the age of 9 will be allowed to participate in the VR experiences on the fourth floor. The majority of the work is made of sensitive materials and technology that could be easily damaged if misused. Kids under 9 naturally engage in modes of touch and play that might have a negative impact on the installations. Also, particularly for younger kids, some of the visuals can be overwhelming and overstimulating.
