Inspired by the Futurist Cookbook, the (in)famous Italian compendium of surreal recipes and fantastical dinners published in 1932, the experience takes participants on a multi-sensory journey that combines virtual reality, food, and fantasy — a seven-course, hour-long, mind-altering art and dining experience.
After being greeted and ushered into the waiting area, guests are escorted into
an unassuming room, where they are fitted with Oculus VR headsets; that’s when the magic really begins. As images appears on their VR screen, they embark on their surreal dining journey, narrated by a familiar voice, that of t.v. food celebrity Gail Simmons , with an original soundtrack by Martux M and Paul D. Miller, aka dj Spooky.
Scene after scene unfolds as guests interact with virtual and actual bite-sized dishes from an exclusive menu curated by Pandya. Virtual reality, food, and fantasy combine for a mind-altering, 40-minute, otherworldly experience that tests “reality” by positing a negotiation between our expectations and what our senses make of our environment. Aerobanquets RMX reprograms all of our perceptive expectations. Through multi-sensory engagement, participants experience a unique and complex array of feelings, colored by their individual interpretations and responses.
