The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Arts in moving image or cinema production.
The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, a newly established $57M interdisciplinary center, research facility, and academic degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is re-envisioning the university for the 21st century and how students co-create and learn. Current areas of research interests within the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts include cinematic arts, virtual production + real-time filmmaking; motion capture; interactive + immersive storytelling; experience and speculative design; VR, AR, + XR; games, play + performance; embodied cognition; machine learning + blockchain technologies; sonic arts; IOT; physical computing; and entrepreneurship.
Duties include teaching a variety of courses at an undergraduate, and eventually, graduate, level. As a tenure-track professor, you will continue your outstanding creative work, further develop your research area, help us develop new curriculum, advise, and mentor students, and participate in university service and outreach. The award honors exceptional distinctiveness, inventiveness, and the impact of the submitted work in expanding the conventions of program format, content, audience interaction, production technique and delivery. Such work may reflect a reimagining or reworking of existing concepts and approaches in a new way, or may be an entirely novel type of experience.

For our 2023 Festival, industry experts will share insights on the evolution of impact gaming over the past 20 years, perspectives on where we are now, and predictions for the global future of games and immersive media across education, health and wellness, civic engagement, environmental sustainability, and more.
The XR for Change Summit will also return this year as a day-long event exploring the future of emerging technology and social good, including XR (VR, AR, MR) the metaverse, AI, and other rapidly-growing virtual spaces that are expanding our potential for impact.
Please propose session ideas that are in keeping with the event’s ethos, and note that self-promotional presentations not focused on sharing lessons learned, failures, or meaningful takeaways for the audience are unlikely to be seriously considered. There is no fee for submissions.

Created in 2016, the Fringe Scholarships Program exists to expand and diversify the pool of artists producing work at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Fringe Scholarships are available to first-time Hollywood Fringe producers who contribute to the ethnic, cultural, racial, disability, D/deaf, and intersectional LGBTQIIA+ diversity of the Fringe community. BIPOC and Spanish productions are encouraged to apply, as well as low-income and/or formerly incarcerated people who fit the criteria above.
