We are looking for actors that are very comfortable with improv and preferably with past immersive/interactive theatre experience. Actors should highlight in their submission email if they have any of this type of experience or other special skills that would create a spectacle (e.g. musical instruments, dancing, fire-spinning, sword-swallowing, magic tricks, contortionism, etc.). Actors invited to audition will be given the option of attending virtual or in-person auditions.

The Mystery League is looking to hire four actors for an immersive game at at a major cultural institution in Chicago, for the four nights of Oct 20, 21, 22, & 23. Each event is 4 hours long, but only 3 actors will be on at a time, to allow for breaks. You’ll be playing a small role in the game, and interacting with about 120 teams per night. You’ll have a (short) script, and you’ll need to be able to improv with the players.

The Department of Interactive Media at the University of Miami (https://interactive.miami.edu) is currently seeking applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track or tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level for faculty conducting research in immersive media. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community and enthusiastically encourage applications from individuals who can contribute to this mission. The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, Media and Technology, Media and Society, Media Arts, Emerging Media, Computer Science, or a related discipline by the beginning of the appointment, August 15, 2024.

Candidates are expected to conduct research in immersive media fields, covering areas such as enhanced storytelling, training and simulation, health care and medical uses, ethics of immersive technologies, serious games/education, audience engagement, accessibility, social impact, immersive design, and communicative behavior in immersive contexts. FROM THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

The interactive and immersive cycle of the Peabody Awards honors stories in formats such as games, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive journalism and documentary, co-creation, and social video, made widely available to the public on consumer-level hardware. Interactive, immersive, and/or participatory experiences must be core to the project and essential to the storytelling.

Eligibility Period: All projects must have been published/released between January 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. The window of eligibility has been set to overlap with last year’s award cycle due to the newness of the category and in order to provide broader consideration of works. Projects released during the overlap period (January 1, 2022 through May 31, 2022) which have already been submitted for consideration are not eligible.

This will be the first Night Games in four years!

Submissions for our 2023 season include our online Festival — IndieCade Anywhere and Everywhere, as well as consideration for any and all in-person events, as well as our ongoing streaming features and activities for the year.
